Just to make things a little more confusing for those of us who are deeply involved with retail advertising, Twitter is selling ads and, as you can see from this screen shot, it’s rather expensive to get started if you’re an independent retailer.

The minimum spend per month is set at $5,000.  That’s a bit steep for most of your retailers who may just be experimenting with Twitter and, they already tweet now for free.

The program isn’t in full swing yet so there will most likely still be some changes, you can read more about the program here on “Online Media Daily”.  We’ll be watching, too.

This is just another example of how a good brand can step in, run tests, publish the results to their dealers and, if the ROI is good, help the retailers utilize this new channel.

Retail advertising is very confusing to retailers, they need help.  The brands that help, will reap the benefit.
