There has been a lot written lately about the growth of online advertising revenue and here’s another chart that adds to the storyline that the golden days of online advertising are upon us.

The web has been around for a long time so why are so many experts predicting such a rapid growth now?

According to MagnaGlobal and others it’s a recognition by advertisers that consumers are predominately online and the ROI’s are very strong.  But, it’s been that way for several years, why now?  According to their research:

It’s the last point that we’ve seen happening more frequently within the last several months in our business.

They further go on to write,  “Paid Search has quickly become the most important component of online advertising, and in 2010 will account for $29.8 billion, up 16.5% over 2009 totals on a constant currency basis.”

Why now?  It maybe the recession has caused all of us to look more closely at the way we spend money and this second look at online advertising was all it took to push advertisers over the edge.  It’s about time.
