A recent report from iSuppli Corporation predicts an unbelievable growth in internet-enable televisions (IETVs) and other internet connected devices by 2013.

The consumer electronics industry expects these new devices to help turn a 7.7% decline in sales 2008 to 2009 to positive growth in 2010.

Well, if a television is connected to the internet, it must have an IP address and we should be able to pinpoint its physical location within a reasonable radius.

Imagine so many homes watching videos on their TV, that were downloaded from the internet, that carry your commercial, with a link to your local dealer’s website.  Now, that changes everything as your national advertising campaign is now also your retailers local advertising campaign.

Ok, maybe I’m jumping ahead here a little but only a little.

The point is that not only should you be trying to close the gap between your brand site and your local retailer’s site, by doing such things as dealer microsites where you control the brand message.   You should also be thinking about how technology is changing local advertising well beyond things like your dealer locator, buying local search, social media and mobile.

Now is the time to deportalize your content and put it in the hands of your local retailers where it will do the most good for the least amount of money.
