It’s been awhile since I cared about broadband access for consumers from home because over a year ago it was reported that 50% of households had broadband access. It then just went out of mind and we stopped worrying too much about the issue and built our sites for broadband.
Well I inadvertently ran across a recent Pew Internet Study that tells me that I was right not worry about it as the percentage has now reached 63% up from 55% last year at this time.
Upper income households defined as a household income above $75,000 are leading the way with 85% having broadband access.
Even 35% of households with $20,000 or less in annual income have broadband access.
So, it’s not an issue, let the videos roll because there is plenty of bandwidth out there.
