Here’s a report about the growth of e-readers and tablets in the U.S.

Just when you thought you had everything figured out for local advertising in this digital age, another big change is on the horizon.  E-readers and tablet computers continue to take hold with consumers and that will make a big difference over time.

As far as I can tell these two devices have already merged into one even more popular device, one that is small enough to take out of the house and large enough to deliver a great user experience on the web.  The tablet is an e-reader, too.  Or, vice versa.

It’s just a matter of time before consumers decide to upgrade to a tablet instead of buying a new desktop, laptop or e-reader.

Now your product ads, coupons, special offers and brand message will be available to consumers as they walk through a mall or stand in front of your product or your competitor’s product in the store.

The good news is that the web user experience is so good on a tablet that technically it won’t be much of a challenge to get your information in front of tablet owners.  The main issue is that you have to continue to think locally about your brand message.  You have to get better at linking your products, your brand message and your special offers with the local dealers’ information and his/her local offer.

Don’t wait, tablets are coming fast.
