We say “only” 28.1 billion videos were watched online in February because in January Americans watched a staggering 32.4 billion according to comScore Video Matrix Service.

Here’s the breakdown for February.

While Google sites are by far and away the winner with the most views, mostly because of YouTube.   Hulu is almost at a billion views by itself.

Hulu is interesting because its time shifting of television shows will have a greater impact on advertising at some point in the near future.   If you watch a television show on the Internet, then we can geo-locate you and feed you locally relevant commercials.  Now that changes everything, especially what your definition of national advertising is.

Local Search, Mobile, Social and now Video are four key things that you should be involved with.  Local Search is proven, mature enough and ready for a decent percentage of your budget.  Video is proven for your site.  Mobile and Social should be watched and experimented with, there just not ready yet for prime marketing dollars.
