A recent Pew Internet Report (.pdf) shows an astounding growth in the use of video sharing sites across all age brackets with the totals nearly doubling since 2006.  Fully 62% of all adult Internet users have watched a video on sites like YouTube.com.

The most surprising statistic for me was how video sharing outpaced such things as Twitter and Facebook.

So, while recently we’ve been reading articles about the advertising value of being on Twitter or Facebook perhaps we should also spend time on the consumer expectation to see more video on our sites.

Providing a video player and then great content for your dealers is worth considering for their microsites and landing pages.

For a brand it would be like having your own TV station where you could broadcast your message to interested consumers without having to pay for any airtime.  Instead of just providing a template for printed promotional materials in your ad builder you could allow your dealers to select the right video to play on their site with a localized custom tag.

And, the instructional video opportunity would really give you a chance to build your brand at the dealer level like never before.

This Internet thing is pretty cool.
