I would like to encourage everyone in the Chicagoland area to sign up for a wonderful way to give back to the community.
It’s Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon on Saturday June 13th.
Believe it or not, thousands of volunteers leave Grant Park and by bus go to schools throughout the area to paint. It’s a fun and rewarding day.
The first time I went I was skeptical that we would really do much good. But I was wrong. We were greeted at our school by the principal and we’re tasked with painting the entire first floor of the school.
The Chicago Cares people had it extremely well organized, we had plenty of people, paint, brushes and ladders and in about four hours we changed that school from drab and dirty to bright and clean.
At the end of the day the principal thanked us profusely and I really felt that we had done something worthwhile for the kids and the community. It was fun, too.
So please sign up at our page and join the fun.
