Bad news for newspapers, yes. Not necessarily bad for advertisers. I'm a media buyer and I must say that it is a buyer's market. Many print products have had to realign their rates and as rates have dropped, they've become very attractive buys for us!

Why pay when you can get it for free elsewhere like CNN? That's where the newspaper battle is. How will they compete with sites like CNN that provide news and other information free of charge to readers?

There are many newspapers and magazines that require payment to readers. I think besides their commercial purpose as with the development of internet the printed newspapers might have lower selling, they need to protect their content too. So, I guess it is now depends on how important is their content to readers. I myself won't bother paying for little cents because I am mobile and need to read online news from time to time.

The answer is quite simple, no. Why will I spend money for an online newspaper when I can read news for free over at CNN and BBC? And according to a survey, among 2,000 people, 77% of these people are not willing to pay to read newspaper stories on the internet. But we cannot deny the fact that print media is absolutely suffering from the rise of news on the web.
