Here are the results of a study done by Folyo to try and determine how much it costs to design a basic homepage.  They only asked 40 designers but it is still worth noting the results.

They go on to try and measure the cost of a landing page and make this observation:

The cost of a good landing page and the talented people available for a local retailer to design one ( this cost doesn’t include programming or hosting) is a challenge for most retailers.   And, that’s one of the main reasons local retailers still spend your co-op dollars on newspaper ads, simply because there is a system in place that makes it easy.

Even in the face of much, much better ROIs for search marketing, a dealer will still take the path of least resistance.

That’s why your marcom portal and ad builder should include templates for landing pages and offer the ability to host and track the landing page results for the retailer.  This will bring you and the retailer more customers at a better ROI while you maintain and control the brand message.
